Introduction
When you think of snowboarding, what do you think of? A male teenager,
coming too close to a skier? A rowdy teen escaping the grasp of the Ski
Patrol? These are the sorts of stereotypes that snowboarders have had
to fight since the sport's founding in the 1970s, continuing even to
today—although snowboarding has become just as popular as skiing.
Snowboarding has come a long way, and much of its success is mainly due
to Jake Burton. He dreamed, he tried, he failed, and
tried again until he succeeded, overcoming much opposition from many
ski organizations and the media along the way. This is a website
tracing that
achievement, and it is dedicated to everyone who has ever fought for a
dream.
