In 1965, Sherman Poppen designed the Snurfer. It eventually proved to be Burton’s ultimate base for the snowboard. The Snurfer was really just two children’s skis tied together with a rope coming from the front for balance. Poppen later sold the idea to Brunswick. Burton loved it.
