New York State History Day staff offer a full slate of training sessions for both teachers and students. The sessions in the list below can be conducted either as presentations or workshops:
- Introduction to National History Day
- Connecting Classrooms with Primary Sources
- Researching for National History Day
- Creating Strong Exhibits
- Creating Strong Documentaries using iMovie OR Windows Moviemaker
- Creating Strong Websites
Presentations:
Typically 45 minutes to an hour long, presentations offer an overview of the chosen topic. They are informative and involve some interaction with the audience. They are good for classroom visits, professional development days, and conferences. Presentation costs cover travel expenses and all program materials. $50 per visit
Workshops:
Typically 3 hours long, workshops provide an overview of the topic as well as group discussions and hands-on activities. Presentation costs cover travel expenses and all program materials. $100 per visit
Autumn Regional Workshops:
Each autumn we conduct History Day workshops with many of our regional offices. Participation is free, but pre-registration is required. Check your region's homepage at www.nyshistoryday.org/regionalinfo.htm to see if we are coming to your area and for registration information.
Video-conferences and Webinars:
Our hour-long presentations are available as video conference or webinar sessions, which provide a great alternative to in-person presentations and are available to schools and classrooms at no cost. |
